Joomla! User Group FAQ

How do I register a group?

Please register by sending us the required information.

After your group has been approved, your designated contact person will receive a user name and password so that the group's record can be updated. Please make sure that your contact person is available while waiting, since delays in responses to questions will lead to delays in approval. Remember that, like everything else in Joomla!, this process is managed by volunteers and approval may take a few weeks.

Is there a special naming structure for Joomla! User Groups?

Yes. Registered groups will all have names with this structure: Joomla! User xxxx yyyy.

Xxxx will be an appropriate word describing the group's structure, such as: group, association, club, organization, or network.

Yyyy will be an appropriate geographic description, which might be the name of a city, region, country or some other area.

For example there might be:

  • Joomla! User Group Mars
  • Joomla! User Association Venus
  • Joomla! User Network Pluto.

What happens if two groups want to use the same name?

Names will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Joomla! and Open Source Matters will not arbitrate any conflict over the use of particular names, but we hope that groups will work together to find names and structures that work for them.

So, once approved, are we an official Joomla! User Group?

No, you are a recognized Joomla! User Group. There is no such thing as an "official Joomla! User Group." Joomla! user groups are independent entities not authorized, sponsored, or otherwise approved by Joomla!.
